Punjab Chief Minister and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said his government would replicate the breakfast scheme for primary school students being implemented in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to the media after participating with his Tamil Nadu counterpart, MK Stalin, in the expansion of the programme in Chennai, Mann described the Breakfast Scheme as a pioneering one and a model for not only other states but also the Union Government.

“We are actively considering launching such a scheme in Punjab. A resolution would soon be adopted at the Punjab Cabinet to execute the programme there,” he said, adding that he had given an assurance to Stalin in this regard.

Earlier, at the inaugural event, when Mann asked the students whether they were happy, the response was a resounding ‘yes’.

The Punjab Chief Minister, who lauded the great strides that Tamil Nadu had made in the fields of education, health care, and infrastructure, said his visit was also strengthening the historical and cultural ties between Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
